I’m one half of a blogging couple | Nigel’s View 1

The other day I was chatting to David and Luke over at the Blended Parent Network and we came up with an idea for my wife and I to write a guest post about what it’s like to be married to a blogger. So here we go!

I’m married to Emily who blogs at Twin Mummy and Daddy. My wife started her blog about five years ago, and for a long time I used to watch her furiously typing away on a laptop, and I had no idea what she was doing! I was usually sitting there playing Xbox. Good deal I thought!

Emily had often mentioned to me that I should start a blog of my own, but I didn’t really know what to write about so I always dismissed the idea. Then two and a half years ago I broke my wrist in an accident at work and as a result I was unable to work for a good few weeks. I got bored quickly and started my blog, DIY Daddy.

Being one half of a blogging couple in my opinion only has advantages. The reason being is simple. When you talk to family or friends about blogging, you’re generally faced with a very bemused face of what is he talking about?!

Emily is brilliant when it’s comes to anything technical. She has a brilliant ability to work things out quickly and when I mention something about blogging, 99 times out of 100 she will understand what I’m trying to say.

My spelling is fine, but sometimes I write too quickly and leave words out. I’ll be honest my grammar is not great. Emily has always read and edited all of my posts for grammar mistakes etc, and never moaned once about doing it.

There is a friendly rivalry and competiveness between us, but it really is only a joke. I like to think she is proud of what I have achieved with the blog. I am immensely proud of her blog too. It’s brilliant and I have always felt she has not received the credit she deserves. I may be bias, but I think she is one of the top mum bloggers in the UK today.

Having a wife that blogs is helpful and very useful. My blog kind of hit the big time last June, but Emily was there to keep my feet on the ground and help me deal with the amount of interest I received from brands and PR’s because it was a crazy time!

As a blogging couple it works perfectly because we can bounce ideas off each other. Although if I’m honest I bounce lots more ideas off her! We run a linky together which is great fun, and both of our blogs have brought us so many wonderful opportunities.

As well as being my wife, who I love so very much, I couldn’t wish for a better blogging partner!
