Walk, Walk, Fashion Baby – Independent clothing brands

Kids fashion is now big business! Fashionistas want their children to look as stylish as them and the global market is capitalising on this. Trends are being channelled from the high street and I’m sure it won’t be long before Karl Lagerfeld is pushing toddlers down the catwalk all for a Mars Bar as payment.

I’ve compiled a list of some upcoming independent clothing labels, for children that have recently caught my eye. Monochrome madness, bold graphics and animal animations all feature in some truly awesome threads. I’ve selected my favourite stand out item for each (insert imaginary endless budget) but do investigate them all, I’m sure they’ll have something to suit everyone’s needs.

Play Hard Kids Tee – £20

Straight out of my home city Norwich. This graphic design-led brand creates some amazing timeless wears. With the statement ‘less is more’ reflected throughout their collection, it’s definitely one for the minimalist family out there.

Tobias and the bear

Team Sushi Leggings – £18

Leggings are this brands love. They set out for a unisex line that give mothers a break from dressing their girl’s in bows and frills. Designed and made in the UK.

Shape of things

Polka Dot White Baby Jumpsuit (features matte, neon, glitter, multi-coloured and reflective dots) – £30

A fun and edgy alternative to normal kids fashion. Gender neutral clothes made from sustainable high quality materials. Geometry is their games and shapes feature throughout the collection. Unusual materials and textures engage the children whilst still looking effortlessly cool.

Turtle dove

Monochrome Honey Bee Playsuit – £20

Organic fabrics and gender neutral, the clothes have a monochrome theme with a pop of colour. Made to be worn throughout the year, the clean lines and graphic pattern repeat is the way to my heart. Very stylish and trendy. The collection is a mindful antidote to fast fashion and fast living.

Bobo Choses

Hand Trick Overall – £112

Outer shell waterproof padded suit for the winter months. Adorned with their signature bird print on the back this baggy fit suit with ribbed cuffed will keep your baby warm in the most Baltic conditions. This brand likes to capture the magical, passionate look and
language of children. Each collection tells a story that they publish as a children’s book, making clothes special and meaningful.

Tiny Cottons

i like your face sweatshirt – £40

One of my favourite items on the list and it’s already been purchased for a Christmas present. Bold, fun and another simplistic design. Maybe not the most ideal colour for a child to wear but for Sunday best this is a winner. . After presenting their first collection they quickly became well known in the kids fashion world. Unique designs and outstanding quality.

Filemon Kid

Onesie Fox Rose Dawn – £40

A strange coloured sweatshirt textile onesie.  Big fox printed stitched on the back with a lined hood and gold coloured zipper. Their motto is “Impulsivity, exuberance, playfulness and simple design with unexpected elements”

Beau Loves

Long Sleeves Baby Top, Jet Black, Galaxy – £25

Jet black long sleeved top with a cool galaxy print. Another gender neutral line that is adventurous, stylish and creative. As the brand develops and becomes stronger so does the variety of the garms.

Mini Rodini

Frog Embroidery Sweatpants – £40

Grey sweatpants with embroidered green frogs randomly dotted all over. 100% comfortable from 100% cotton. Straight out of Sweden Mini Rodini takes children seriously with playfulness to match. “It’s important that children too have clothes that match their personality, mood and creativity”
